About Space Mutiny
What is Space Mutiny Records?
Space Mutiny Records is a happy place. It’s a place where people from all over the world can gather to enjoy amateurly produced dgital music regardless of planet of origin.
Whose music is featured on Space Mutiny Records?
Mine.
Well, who are you?
Is “Space Mutiny Records” a record label?
No.
But.. it’s called “Space Mutiny Records.
Yes.
And… you refer to it as your record label.
Quite so. But it isn’t one.
…This is going nowhere.
Agreed.
Why “Space Mutiny?”
Space Mutiny is the name of a South African scifi movie which is constantly in the running for the title of “worst film ever.” I personally think it’s awesome, for reasons only a hardcore Space Mutiny fan could delude himself into believing.
The film is perhaps best known for being featured in Mystery Science Theater 3000, one of the best shows ever made. I first saw the movie when someone brought the bargain-basement videotape in on a school movie day, circa 1989. I loved bad scifi even then, but mostly forgot about it until it turned up on MST3k years later and an entire fandom shared in its cheesiness.
It just happened that the first halfway-decent remix I ever made was “We Put Our Faith In Blast Hardcheese,” which is made of sound clips from the MST3k episode. When I decided to put up a page for my mixes, the rest of this site sort of grew around it.
